How many discs do you have in your home? Films on shelves, CDs in the car, games discs in the cupboard? Combine this with a number of children and your collection of film, music and video games can stop working. Sticky fingerprints, scratches and more! How do you go care for your DVDs, CDs and games? Let’s have a look so they last longer and you can continue to use them properly.
So Many Discs
Most of us made the switch to DVDs a long time ago as the medium of choice for viewing movies but many people do not care for their DVDs properly. Often the main culprit is just plain and simple dirt and grime. When you start calculating the expense for trying to replace your DVDs, it is a lot smarter to prevent the damage in the first place. In addition you will maintain much better viewing quality for as long as you own the DVD.
It’s important to realise that even though DVDs may seem more impervious to destruction than your old video tapes, they really aren’t and should be treated with similar care. If you will follow some simple rules to care for your DVDs they will last you forever.
The same with music CDs and our video game discs. Utilising your old CD collection can help you save money on streaming subscriptions. It’s a great way to educate your husband or wife, your loved ones with music you love and remember those classics too.
The Wii is still a brilliant games console, our kids adore it. However when they eject to swap games, they don’t look after the discs. They just want to get on and play their Mario game. They don’t think about looking after the disc, or the care for your DVDs.
Get Rid Of The Cases
What we’ve actually don with all our discs is get rid of the case. The cases take up a lot of space and the value that you can sell movies, CDs and games on for is pretty low. So we went through our collections, got rid of what we didn’t want and then got rid of all the cases. Instead, buying a couple of disc folders that can hold around 60 discs each. We have one for movies, another for CDs and a third for games. We also have a smaller one for the campervan, for CDs and films we can watch whilst away.
